Aging 2.0 Local Denver – Changing the Narrative Initiative
Location: Covenant Village of Colorado

Changing the Narrative Initiative is a strategic communications campaign designed to change the negative and inaccurate stereotypes that the public holds about older people. The campaign will train audiences in research-based framing strategies about aging and ageism and will advance effective and productive messages about older people through social media campaigns and through op-ed pieces and stories in print and electronic media. A core strategy of the Initiative is training influential organizations like Aging2.0 Denver Chapter and it’s members in Reframing Aging. This is information that can be used by aging stakeholders, advocates, startups in the aging space and seniors themselves. Facilitated by a Frameworks Institute Certified Master Trainer, the presenter is Janine Vandenburg who describes herself in as a social entrepreneur, community activist, facilitator, designer, boomer leading change, encore career champion, feminist, social change idea generator, and Mom!

Arapahoe County Council on Aging (ACCOA) is the official spokesman for the aging population in Arapahoe County. Everyone is welcome to attend the ACCOA meetings. They are open to the public, professionals, retirees, all ages. Light refreshments are served. People attending ACCOA meetings at the Caley Assisted Living facility are not to park in the Vet’s paved parking lot and are to use either the Caley Ridge parking lot, the graveled/rocked vet parking lot, or the parking lot next door at Boston Commons as long as it is NOT the covered parking.
